WBA, WBF seeking volunteers to rebuild homes with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans

The Women's Bar of Massachusetts is proud to dedicate the WBA/WBF Habitat for Humanity trip to New Orleans to the memory of M. Ellen Carpenter, in remembrance of her charitable and energetic spirit.

The Women's Bar Association and Women's Bar Foundation of Massachusetts are interested in putting together a group of members of the WBA and volunteer
attorneys of the WBF to travel to New Orleans to volunteer with
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) as it rebuilds the homes of families devastated by hurricane Katrina.

Volunteers are needed for general debris removal: tearing out sheetrock, insulation, furniture, etc. and hauling it to the curb. Those who are unable to help with physical labor are appreciated and utilized in the kitchen, the camp, and in office duties.

Volunteers are responsible for travel arrangements but may choose to stay at
Camp Hope, located in Violet, Louisiana, for $100 a week or $20 a day which
includes three meals per day. Air fares and hotels are very inexpensive. For those who want to help but are unable to volunteer, please consider sponsoring another member.

If interested please click here to register your interest and Lisa Jacobson, Staff Attorney for the Women's Bar Foundation, will contact you. Please note: by signing up at this time, you are not obligating yourself to the project. However, we do need to know how many people are interested in participating before we are able to make arrangements with NOAHH.
