The North Shore Committee is comprised of women attorneys and related professionals who work or live on Boston’s North Shore. The membership area includes all cities and towns throughout Essex County. The Committee is a diverse group, from those just starting out to seasoned professionals, with practices that focus on a variety of civil and criminal areas. Many are solo practitioners; many others are in small firms and some are in-house. Members range from those who have just been admitted to those who have been lawyers for more than fifteen years. There are also women in law-related professions among the membership.
The Committee meets the third Friday of each month for lunch to exchange ideas about business development, tap into the collective intellectual capital of the group, mentor each other, and lend mutual support.
Over the past year, the North Shore Committee has offered a host of special programs, including:
Regional Fall Brunch co-hosted with the WBA’s Middlesex Committee
Web Site Design for Lawyers, a lunchtime presentation by a North Shore Web designer who offered tips and tricks for effective Web design
Paths Followed, Lessons Learned, an evening panel discussion about career paths and choices featuring Hon. Mary Anne Sahagian, First Justice, Essex Probate Court, Elin Graydon of the Essex District Attorney’s Office, Lori Cianciulli of Cianciulli Law Offices, and Helaine Palmer of Nigro Pettepit & Lucas, LLP
Financial Planning Forum, a lunchtime discussion with two professional financial planners who shared their perspectives on special issues for professional women
An Evening of Wit and Wisdom, featuring retired Judge Suzanne DelVecchio with insights and humor on the topic of women in the law.
BBO Trust Accounting, a lunchtime discussion with Lindsay Vosburgh, Financial Investigator, Office of Bar Counsel, who focused on trust accounting processes and best practices.
In addition, the North Shore Committee is working with the WBA to launch a North Shore mentoring circle, giving WBA members at all levels of experience the opportunity to share career concerns, practice tips and issues of work/life balance.
